Privacy Policy
What Caption Studio keeps about you, why, for how long, and who else sees it. The short version: your account details stay; your videos are deleted after a day.
What we keep, and for how long
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your Google account's id, email address and name | To know who you are and keep your work yours | While you have an account |
| Your plan, the minutes used this month, when you joined and last visited | To apply your plan's limits | While you have an account |
| Each video's name, length and when it was made | To count minutes and show your recent work | 24 hours |
| The video or its audio track, the transcript, your edits and your exports | To make and edit your captions | Deleted automatically 24 hours after they were last changed |
| Anonymous usage steps — "chose a video", "exported" — under a random id your browser makes up, not linked to your account, with no IP address | To see where people get stuck and fix it | 180 days. Not collected if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control |
| Copies of the account records above (not your videos) | So a failed disk does not lose your account | Replaced continually; the oldest copy is about 15 days old |
We do not sell your information, show you advertising, use third-party trackers, or use your videos to train any model.
Where it is processed
- Transcription happens on our own server, not at a third-party speech service.
- Sign-in is handled by Google and by Supabase, which checks the Google sign-in for us.
- Cloudflare carries the connection between your browser and our server, and so sees your IP address.
- Write the post — only when you press it — sends the text of your captions to Anthropic's Claude API to write hooks, titles and hashtags. Your video is not sent.
- Keep captions off the speaker finds faces inside your browser; video frames do not leave your device for it. The browser fetches the detection model from Google's and jsDelivr's servers.
- Fonts load from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address.
Cookies and storage in your browser
One cookie, cs_session, keeps you signed in for 30 days. It cannot be read by
scripts on the page. Your browser's local storage keeps preferences such as the timeline density, the
language you caption in, and the names list you type — on your device only — and
the random id used for the anonymous usage steps above.
Your choices
- Delete a video's files sooner: they go on their own after 24 hours.
- See, correct or delete your account and its records: write to the Help button inside the app. We answer within 30 days.
- Stop using the service: sign out. Your videos will be gone within 24 hours; ask us to delete the account itself.
